Hunsur CMC Commissioner suspended for irregularities

Hunsur:  Hunsur City Municipal Council (CMC) Commissioner Shivappa Nayaka has been suspended on charges of irregularities and violation of rules.

Shivappa Nayaka, originally a Community Organisation Officer, was appointed as Hunsur CMC Commissioner two years ago. One Ramegowda, a local, had lodged a complaint accusing Shivappa Nayaka of causing huge revenue loss to the government by indulging in rampant corruption and irregularities.

Following the complaint, the Department of Municipal Administration had ordered a probe into the charges against the CMC Commissioner.

The charges included causing loss to the State exchequer by improper allotment of 109 shops owned by the CMC in violation of the Deputy Commissioner’s direction, falling short in collection of taxes for the year 2018-19, negligence in collection of water bills with only 22 percent collection of the set target and illegal sanction of power connection to unauthorised buildings that have come up on revenue land, among others.

As the charges have been proved, the Directorate of Municipal Administration has ordered suspension of Shivappa Nayaka.
