Hunsur Govt. Adarsha Vidyalaya students excel in NMMS exam

Mysuru: The students of Government Adarsha Vidyalaya in Hunsur have excelled in the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) examination for class VIII students, which is a Centrally-sponsored Scheme under the Ministry of Education’s School Education and Literacy, Government of India. The Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to bright and economically disadvantaged students of Government and Aided Schools.

NMMS exam plays an important role in ensuring bright students do not drop out of schools by offering scholarships to continue their education. A total of 24 students have passed NMMS examination from Hunsur taluk and out of these 20 are from Government Adarsha Vidyalaya.

Students M. Deekshita, H.V. Hanshith, S. Inchara, Jeevita, Lekhana, Mohammed Jawad, Rishita, H.P.  Chetan Gowda, H.S. Chinmayi, H. Namrata, N.G. Prajna, M. Prarthana, R.N. Puneet, D.H. Ramyashree, Sanket Santosh Jangamashetty, S.N. Soujanya, Umme Zyna, Vindhya, Vinushree and C.M. Yakshit have been selected under the scheme after they successfully completed the NMMS exam.

Chandrakumar, Principal of the Vidyalaya, expressing his happiness on the performance of his students, said that right from the start of the academic year teachers used to take two special classes daily to prepare them for NMMS and special classes on Sundays too.

“Even the students have worked very hard and have done well in the examinations to become eligible for NMMS scholarship,” he added.
