Mysuru: Maintaining that he was the most capable candidate to fight the LS polls from Mysuru-Kodagu seat, former MP and Congress leader C.H. Vijayashankar has said that his rich experience as a LS Member for two terms had made him the front-runner for the seat.

Replying to press persons here recently to a question on the JD(S) demand for the seat, he said that it was not wrong on the part of the JD(S) to ask for the seat as the alliance partner of the Congress.

Pointing out that the JD(S) had not won the Mysuru-Kodagu seat even once, he said that barring three wins by the BJP, the Congress had held the seat for a long time.

Noting that former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had promised him the Congress ticket from Mysuru-Kodagu LS seat, the former MP said that the Election Commission is likely to announce the poll schedule in the first week of March and the party should start preparations right now.
