Mysuru: With the Independence Day (Aug. 15) celebration round the corner, the District Administration has appealed the members of the public to take part in large numbers at the official celebration to take place in the city at Torch Light Parade Grounds on Aug. 15 at 9 am and cultural programmes to be held at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road at 6 pm the same day.
District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will launch the celebrations by hoisting the National Flag at Torch Light Parade Grounds in Bannimantap at 9 am, following which school children will present cultural programmes.
Meanwhile, the District Administration has banned use of plastic and paper made flags during Independence Day celebrations.
In the press release, the authorities said that the members of the public, school and college students etc., are asked to use only cloth flags, so as to ensure that the National Flag is not dishonoured or defaced by various acts of misuse. Shop keepers and other sellers are also directed not to sell plastic and paper flags.
