I had advised Siddaramaiah to return 14 sites on Day 1: MLC

October 1, 2024

Mysuru: “I had advised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to return the 14 sites illegally allotted to his wife, B.M. Parvathi, and to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the entire affairs of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA),” stated MLC A.H. Vishwanath.

Reacting to the CM’s wife returning the 14 sites at this critical juncture, he emphasised, “From the very first day of this case, I held a press conference in front of MUDA, urging Siddaramaiah to return the sites allotted in his wife’s name and order a thorough investigation. However, it appears he has become entangled in protecting someone.”

He further asserted, “If he returns the sites now, he must recognise that this will be akin to admitting to the crime, and he will not escape the legal consequences. The Court will not spare him; he will face punishment. As a lawyer himself, he should have understood this. By returning the sites and initiating an investigation, he could have avoided the potential disasters looming ahead. Many individuals who illegally acquired plots from MUDA could have been caught in the net,                                                thereby restoring dignity to Siddaramaiah.”

Vishwanath also addressed a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan, reiterating his demand for a CBI probe into the site allotments to Siddaramaiah. “The MUDA case has taken a serious turn, making headlines across the country, with allegations suggesting Siddaramaiah’s involvement. Let the CBI investigate,” he stated.

“The situation has become dire, with the Chief Minister now standing helpless before his subordinate officials due to the MUDA scam. Observing his current predicament is distressing, he must rethink his position,” the MLC added.

Vishwanath criticised Minister for Urban Development Byrathi Suresh, calling him ignorant, and inexperienced, asserting that his expertise lies solely in the real estate business. He attributed the emergence of the scam within MUDA to Suresh’s irresponsibility, expressing scepticism about the potential for numerous other scandals to surface with further investigations.

Regarding the High Court’s decisions, he stated, “As a lawyer, I have a good understanding of the law. The judiciary has made its judgements based on the petitions submitted. However, you and your associates seem to have lost faith in the Court and its judges.” He advised the CM to understand that the judges considered all aspects before delivering the verdict. District in-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, who claims that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has done nothing wrong, was criticised for behaving like a puppet.

“He is often seen speaking of the Constitution, democracy, Dr. Ambedkar, and justice but now presents himself as a sycophant, claiming Siddaramaiah has done no wrong. Does the Court need to say that, or is it merely Mahadevappa’s perspective? He is not a judge. I cannot comprehend why he is indulging in sycophancy,” Vishwanath remarked.
