IAS Officer Jayaram: Honest and efficient

Sir,

Apropos K.B. Ganapathy’s Abracadabra ‘Wake up Mysuru: Ask Siddharamaiah to leave behind a legacy for Mysuru’ in  SOM dated 27.5.2023, reference was made about appointing N. Jayaram as Secretary to the present Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.

When he (Jayaram) was in Mysuru, I had a very good interaction with this IAS Officer during his stint as Commissioner  of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC). I found him impeccably honest and a very efficient officer.

In fact when a big Circle was built near V.V. Puram Police Station,  the citizens vehemently opposed it as it would cause traffic jam and slow down traffic movement. On our request he came for a site visit and within a week’s time it was removed.

I have another pleasant experience. My co-brother in Bengaluru had a running feud with his neighbour for years as the compound wall was encroached by five feet. When I was in Bengaluru on a visit, he mentioned this to me. At  that time Jayaram was serving in Bengaluru. I contacted him and explained the problem. He immediately came for a site visit and solved the problem amicably.

Note: Now also we have such abnormally big Circles causing traffic jam, but our present IAS and IPS Officers do not see it and the Traffic Police are struggling to regulate traffic, specially during peak hours.—Ed
