iBreast Exam introduced at Narayana Hospital

A boon for women under 40 years of age

Mysuru: In a positive development that could have significant impact on breast cancer screening, Narayana Multi-speciality Hospital, Mysuru has procured iBreast Exam, a hand-held point-of-care medical kit that has a capability to detect breast cancer in its early stages which is a boon for women under 40 years of age.

With iBreast Exam, Narayana Multi-speciality Hospital would be the first hospital in Mysuru to offer this easily affordable and accessible option for women to opt for screening even on the slightest suspicion they might have pertaining to their breasts, as the kit can detect breast tumours as small as 3 to 5 mm.

Addressing a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city on Saturday Dr. Vedha Priya, expert oncologist at Narayana Multi-speciality Hospital, Mysuru, said that the hospital was happy to introduce the state-of-the-art equipment in Mysuru which is totally radiation-free and added that early detection helps in the fight against the disease.

She said that normally breast cancer is detected in later stages when the patient’s condition has significantly deteriorated and added that iBreast Exam makes early detection a reality, which has become important in the wake of alarming breast cancer cases throughout the country.
