ICC 2019 World Cup Cricket: Pakistan-Sri Lanka match abandoned due to rain

The Pakistan-Sri Lanka ICC 2019 World Cup match at Bristol was called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain on Friday. The match was called off at 8.15 pm (IST) as no play was possible in the time left after the rain stopped.

This is the first time Sri Lanka have gained any points against Pakistan in World Cups.

No result-Both team share points

The no result means the points were shared (one point each) between the teams, and Sri Lanka and Pakistan were placed third and fourth respectively in the points table with 3 points each. New Zealand heads the points table with 4 points followed by Australia also with 4.

The decision was made to call off the game, but there was not enough time to do the necessary cleaning up to allow for a shortened contest. Pakistan will next play Australia on June 12 at Taunton, while Sri Lanka take on Bangladesh at Bristol on June 11.
