42 calves rescued; Cops take driver, vehicle into custody
Mysuru: Yelwal Police have rescued 42 calves which were being transported to a slaughter house in city and have taken the driver and the goods vehicle into custody.
Following a tip off on Monday evening, that calves were being illegally transported from Hunsur side towards Mysuru city, Yelwal Sub-Inspector B.K. Mahesh Kumar and staff Mahesh and Harish, began checking of vehicles near RMP, when they noticed a goods vehicle (KA-17-D-0950) containing calves.
The Cops immediately took the driver into custody and on inspecting the goods vehicle, they found 42 calves in it. When the Police questioned the driver, he is said to have told the Police that Shahbaz, Altaf, Afsar, Khashif and Suhail of Rathnapuri in Hunsur, had bought the animals at a fair and had asked him to transport them to a slaughter house in Mysuru. A case has been registered against six persons at Yelwal Police Station.
