Implement people-friendly, door-to-door Police system: DG&IGP Dr. M.A. Saleem

Mysore/Mysuru: The Police Department, which has the responsibility of protecting the public including senior citizens and women, should implement door-to-door Police system to work as people-friendly Police, said Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) Dr. M.A. Saleem.

Chairing a meeting of all Sub-Division Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and senior Police Officers at the Office of the City Police Commissioner in Nazarbad here yesterday, the DG&IGP instructed the Police to treat those coming to Police Stations with respect, hear their grievances with patience, obtain a written complaint and solve their problems or see that how can their problems be solve legally and take action accordingly. 

Continuing, the DG&IGP suggested the Police to inform about the action taken to every registered case to the complainant and work in such a way that innocent persons do not face problems by implementing door-to-door Police system besides asking them to help senior citizens, those staying alone and protect women and children.

Instructing the Cops to be in touch with at least one person of a family, collect information about the happenings in their surroundings and take steps to prevent any untoward incidents from taking place, the DG&IGP said that this will also help in prevention and detection of crime. That is why door-to-door Police system was implemented at Mysuru in the past, he added.

On Ashada rush, Dr. Saleem asked the Police Officers to provide adequate bandobust during Ashara Fridays and during Dasara celebrations as lakhs of devotees throng the city and co-ordinate with local organisations and Department concerned for road safety to prevent accidents from taking place.

Asking the Police to take care of their health during their stressful work to bring good name to Karnataka Police, he urged them to instil confidence among the public.

DIG (Southern Range) Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, DCP (Crime & Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj, DCP (Law & Order) R.N. Bindu Mani and other Police Officials were present.

Dr. Saleem later visited Devaraja Police Station for an inspection and left for Bengaluru at about 7.15 pm.
