‘Important to remove black mark on University’

March 15, 2019

The students and teachers must work hard to remove the black mark on the century-old University of Mysore. There must be harmony and healthy debates to solve problems. Politics should never be brought in here, said former Union Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad.

He was speaking after inaugurating the felicitation function at Humanities Auditorium in Manasagangothri on Tuesday and said that the research scholars apart from grit must also work hard and concentrate on non-academic activities too. If the students do not have discipline not only their future will be spoilt but they will bring a bad name to the University. Hence, the students, teachers and the administration must join hands to take the University of Mysore forward, he said.

Researchers’ demands

• The University must provide free education to the children of those who died in the Sulwadi temple poison incident.

• There was confusion in the backlog vacancies post in the University and all the posts must be filled in a lawful, transparent manner without meting out injustice to anyone.

• Just like in other Varsities laptop should be given free to both students and researchers.

• Just like in the National Students Scholarship, the period for student scholarships should be extended for five years to SC, ST students

• To enable the poor students from rural areas to adjust to the competitive world, they should be provided computer education and English education. Job skill training must be started and Competitive Exam Centre must be opened.

• Fees for various research works like yearly fees, Ph.D thesis submission fees, Ph.D extension fees that have gone up must be brought down.
