Improve Mysuru-Kacheguda train service

Sir,

Extending Kacheguda-Bengaluru train up to Mysuru is a good relief for passengers who want to commute between Hyderabad and Mysuru, without changing the train at Bengaluru. However, in my recent trip to Hyderabad in Mysuru-Kacheguda ‘Super Fast’ train and back, I have made some observations, which need action from Railways.

Several months back this train was extended up to Mysuru. However, the public address system located within the train was not updated. The announcement starts only from Bengaluru and beyond. Even at several stations en route, the announcement for this train was indicating that this train is from Kacheguda to Bengaluru. This needs updating both, in voice and display in all four languages (English, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi) for the benefit of passengers of both the States and others.

At many stations, no preference was given to this so-called ‘super fast’ train to give green signal and it was made to wait at outer even at smaller stations, where there is no stop for this train. Many a times this train reaches Kacheguda late by more than 30 minutes.  I could not see any TTE examining the tickets in either direction to update the status of RAC ticket holders or to verify the tickets of passengers. In the absence of TTE, a good number of general ticket holders were seen occupying the berths in reserved coaches for short distance travel.

I came to know that the quota for direct passengers between Mysuru and Hyderabad is less.  The increasing number of direct flights from Mysuru to Hyderabad indicates the demand for direct connectivity. Hence, one or two more sleeper coaches needs to be added to this train or more quota for Mysuru-bound passengers (in both directions) to meet the rush.

As there are several other daily trains from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, preference should be given to passengers traveling between Mysuru and Hyderabad rather than passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Hyderabad using this train.
