Increasing thefts of traffic management equipment in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Miscreants stealing traffic management equipment such as control switches, signal light batteries, speakers meant to manage traffic etc., which is increasing day-by-day is turning out to be a headache for City Police

City Police Department have installed Traffic Signal Control Boxes by spending crores of rupees to manage and streamline traffic on city roads and these boxes are being stolen by miscreants. 

Many such boxes installed near Shanthala Theatre and Ramaswamy Circle on Chamaraja Double Road and other places have been broken open and switches and other equipment inside the boxes are stolen, resulting in Traffic Signal Lights going out of order. Though the boxes are replaced, they are being stolen after a few days, a few Police personnel bemoaned.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) – Law and Order, Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda said: “Immediate attention would be given to prevent Traffic Signal Control Box installed to manage signal lights being damaged and parts being stolen.”
