2030 Games at Ahmedabad
Glasgow: India finished fourth in the overall medal standings at Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland which concluded yesterday.
The Indian contingent won a total of 39 medals, consisting of 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze. Dominated the campaign with a historic haul were the Indian boxers, who secured 7 gold and 3 silver medals to top the medal table.
The closing ceremony took place at the OVO Hydro, featuring a formal handover of the Commonwealth Games flag and baton to India, which will host the centenary 2030 edition in Ahmedabad.
Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, representing King Charles III, formally declared the Games closed in Glasgow. He called up on athletes of all countries and territories to visit Ahmedabad in four years’ time to celebrate the 24th Commonwealth Games.
Glasgow’s Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren passed the Commonwealth Games flags to Commonwealth Games Scotland Vice-Chair Susan Jackson, two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra, Indian Olympic Association President P.T. Usha and finally Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
This marked the official transfer of hosting responsibilities from Scotland to India. India last hosted the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010.
