Mysore/Mysuru: “The Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam which is the most significant contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya (MV) is still very relevant and hence, India needs more Engineers like him,” opined former Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore Prof. K.S. Rangappa.
He was speaking after inaugurating a function organised at Institution of Engineers-India (IEI), Mysuru, on Sept. 15 to celebrate Sir MV’s birthday which is being celebrated as Engineer’s Day.
“The contributions of Visvesvaraya are known to the entire world. KRS Dam, which is his most significant contribution, has ignited the lives of lakhs of people,” the former VC added.
“The work of Science and Technology are similar. Reputed Engineers and Scientists are working endlessly for the development of the nation. There is an increased demand in the country for Genetic Engineers, Bio-tech and Health Science Engineers,” he observed.
Engineers C.R. Nagaraj, Mohan Shankar, R. Satish, Raghunath and H.N. Santhosh were felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Shankar said that Sir MV, who served the country sincerely and honestly, is a role model for Engineers. Of late, honesty is diminishing among Engineers, he regretted.
IEI Chairman B.S. Prabhakar, K.B. Bhaskar, Satish, Chinnaswamy, Sureshbabu and others were present on the occasion.
