India Vs Sri Lanka – 1st Test: India in command at lunch after enforcing follow-on

Following on after being bowled out in their first innings for 174, Sri Lanka, which was asked to follow-on, was a wicket down in its second innings against India at lunch on Day-3 of the ongoing first Test at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Ravichandran Ashwin struck early in the day to dismiss Lahiru Thirimanne (0). Later, Ravindra Jadeja  triggered a collapse by bagging a five-wicket as India enforced a follow-on on Sri Lanka, after securing a lead of four hundred runs.  

Nissanka completed his fifty but Sri Lanka continued to lose wickets at the other end. Sri Lanka which resumed play from their overnight score of 108 for 4 were bowled out for a paltry 174.

Earlier, Jadeja scored a marathon 175-run knock as India declared their first innings at 574 for eight yesterday. Apart from Jadeja, Rishabh Pant also scored a counter-attacking 96 while Hanuma Vihari, who was promoted up the order, also hit a fifty. Virat Kohli also played a fine knock of 45 but missed out on a big score in his 100th Test.

On day one India won the toss and skipper Rohit Sharma elected to bat.
