Indians assure 3 more medals

Three more medals are assured for India at Tokyo Paralympics with three Indian para-badminton players — Krishna Nagar, Pramod Bhagat and Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj — making it to finals in their respective classifications today.

While Krishna Nagar reached final of the Men’s Singles (SH6), Pramod Bhagat is into gold match in Men’s Singles SL3 and Yathiraj will fight for yellow metal in Men’s Singles SL4.

Krishna blew away his semi-final opponent Krysten Coombs of Great Britain 21-10, 21-11 and will now take on Chu Man Kai of Hong Kong in final tomorrow at 5.30 am (IST).

Earlier in the day, 33-year-old reigning World Champion Bhagat stormed into finals event after beating Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara in straight games. Today at 3 pm (IST), Bhagat will take on Daniel Bethell of Great Britain in gold match.

Another para-badminton player & Noida District Magistrate, Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, the first civil servant from the country to represent India in Tokyo Paralympics, defeated Fredy Setiawan of Indonesia 21-9, 21-15 to seal semifinal match in 31 minutes.
