Indiscriminate sinking of borewells

Sir,

In spite of the guidelines regarding indiscreet use of ground water given by Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri on Feb. 24, 2021, individual persons and micro-size families are sinking borewells for personal use only.

They do not benefit the poor and needy of Belavatha village, which comes under the jurisdiction of Siddalingapura Panchayat, Mysuru. These borewells are dug without keeping the distance of 250 meters from each other.

There are more than 20 borewells sunk by the Panchayat itself and couple of them with the collaboration of RBI Mysuru. If each one tries to show their money-power and dig borewell, the sources of ground water will be empty and the poor and economically backward people will not get water even once a week from public water resources arranged by our Panchayat.

Those who want to dig borewell for their personal and single family use do not even seek permission from the Department of Mines and Geology. Those who have illegally sunk their personal borewell have not yet registered with the Department concerned once they have completed the works.
