Indradhanush Vaccination Drive begins in Mysuru district

Mysuru: The Department of Health and Family Welfare has undertaken a seven- day Indradhanush Vaccination Drive at various villages in the district from Nov. 23 till Dec.3, 2018 except on Thursdays and government holidays.

The Nationwide Drive, which began in the district on Dec. 25, 2014, has so far identified 259 high risk regions after conducting the survey in various villages of the district.  As many as 2,910 children from 0 to 2 years, 414 children from 5 to 6 years and 849 pregnant women have been identified in the district to administer Indradhanush vaccination.

The children in the age group of 0-2 years and pregnant women who have either discontinued the vaccination or not yet received any vaccine during the regular campaign will be covered during the special drive as it will help achieve 100 per cent vaccination coverage.     

The officials have been asked to make door-to-door visit and prepare a list of children and pregnant women who will be immunised during the campaign. Necessary directives have been issued to the officials concerned in all taluks to make it a successful mission.

This vaccination is very essential for safeguarding children from different kinds of diseases and for their healthy life. During this period, all children below 2 years who have not completed their vaccination course or are totally left out will be administered BCG, oral polio vaccine, DTP, Hepatitis-B and Measles vaccines, according to a press release from District Health Officer Dr. S. Chidambara and District Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Programme Officer Dr. L. Ravi.
