Mysuru – The new office-bearers of ‘Spoorthi,’ the ladies wing of Builders Association of India (BAI), Mysuru Centre, were inducted at a function organised by the wing at Lions School – Mysore West in Gokulam here on Friday.
Nirmala Shekar and Rekha Yoganarasimha were installed respectively as President and Honorary Secretary for the year 2017-18. They were handed over charge by the incumbents of previous year Sandhya Dinesh and Kavita Gururaj respectively. The other office-bearers elected were Sandhya Dinesh, Shweta, Kavita, Shalini Nagaraj, Savita Prabhakar, Sukanya, Shanthi and Rekha.
Inaugurating the programme Dr. Dharanidevi Malagathi, Deputy Director, Karnataka Police Academy pointed out that stones sand, cement, bricks and steel together make a building but not a home which needs love, affection, compassion and trust provided by women folk.
She expressed happiness in the formation of ‘Spoorthi’ with a good motive.
She said that the unorganised sector of women workers were facing severe hardship and commended ‘Spoorthi’ in helping such a tribe. However, she regretted that harassment on women had continued even today which should be stopped.
BAI Mysore Centre Chairman S. Mahadevaswamy administered the oath to the new officer-bearers. State Chairman S.R. Swamy and others were present on the occasion.
