Industrial bodies oppose certain clauses in draft electricity supply regulation

Mysuru: The   Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) conducted a public hearing in Mysuru on Thursday.

During the meeting,  Dr. K.B. Lingaraju, President, Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and K. Ravindra Prabhu, Vice-President, KIADB Industrial Area Manufacturers Association (KIAMA), vehemently argued against certain clauses in the draft  electricity supply regulation-2026 framed by KERC.

Both the industrial bodies, while welcoming the amendment that facilitates direct  applying for power by the consumers, also  opposed charging the expenses of augmentation (capacity increase) to the industries and fixing  time line of two years for constructing new substations, transparency in providing feasibility report, dispute settlement etc.

MCCI and KIAMA, in a memorandum presented to KERC, have requested the commission to address the above problems facing Industrialists and entrepreneurs.

MCCI  Hon. Secretary A.K. Shivaji Rao, KIAMA Vice-President K. Ravindra Prabhu  and others were present.
