Installation of smart meters postponed by 15 days

Mysuru: Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited has postponed the installation of smart meters by 15 days following the requests from consumers and Electrical Contractors Association.

CESC had organised a meeting to create awareness among the consumers about the installation of smart meters for new connections from July 1 at its office in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, CESC (IT and MIS) General Manager Ramaswamy said, the installation of smart meters has been made mandatory from July 1 as per the instructions of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC).

“Installation of smart meters would help in providing correct bills, avoid unnecessary use of electricity, easy recharge, track use of electricity among others,” he said.

CESC Chief General Manager Sharanamma S. Jangina, Chief Engineer Mruthyunjaya, CESC (IT and MIS Division) DGM Ramesh, AGM Bharath and others were present.
