‘Integration of MSMEs with Agriculture – A must for Atma Nirbhar Bharat’

Mysore/Mysuru: “Neither Agriculture nor MSMEs alone can bring about a self- reliant India. They should be integrated to harness better results,” said Dr. Yashawanth Dongre, Professor of Commerce (retd.), Mysore University.

He was presiding over the webinar ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Stimulus package for Agriculture and MSMEs,’ which was organised by GSSS Simha Subbalakshmi First Grade College (GSSS SSFGC) on May 29.

Dr. C.K. Renukarya, Director, Mahajana PG Centre, speaking on ‘Stimulus to Agriculture,’ said that the situation demands the need for implementing the Gandhian principles of making villages self-sufficient by developing rural infrastructure. “There is a need to build good schools, good hospitals, well connected roads, filling the existing tanks, etc., so that villages could be self-reliant,” he added.

Dr. Moodithaya, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, NITTE University, Mangaluru, said that surplus people should come out of villages, move to cities as industries are also important for the economic development of the nation. People should be shifted from Primary (Agriculture) to Secondary (MSME) sector in order to bring balance between both, he opined.

More than 300 participants interacted with the resource persons. The programme was hosted on Google Meet Platform and was also made available on Facebook Live.

Prof. Basappa, Principal, welcomed. Dr. K.V. Prabhakara, Director, introduced the guests. Subramanya, HoD, BBA, proposed a vote of thanks.
