Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 programme launched in city

Week-long door-to-door immunisation drive from tomorrow

Mysuru:  In a bid to achieve the target of full immunisation, the District Health and Family Welfare Department launched an Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0 programme, with Regional Assistant Director of the Health Department Dr. Pushpalatha administering vaccine to seven children at the Tent School in Abdul Kalam Nagar in Bannimantap here this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pushpalatha said ASHA workers were assigned the task of collecting information on the block-wise target of children and pregnant women to be vaccinated during the IMI drive and also the coverage data during the rounds of activity. Based on the data collected, the Department has identified 283 high risk areas in the district, where 1,694 children and 466 pregnant women remained untouched by the Immunisation Programme.

She further said that 354 Centres have been opened in the district to administer vaccine and added that the volunteers would visit the houses of those identified in 283 High Risk areas and administer vaccine to them from tomorrow except on Dec. 5 and 7. Vaccine will also be administered at all the 354 Centres and Government Hospitals every Thursday.

The drive will be held in four stages — from Dec. 3, Jan. 6, 2020, Feb. 3 and March 2. 

District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. R. Venkatesh, Taluk Health Officer Dr. Mahadevaprasad, IMA State Vice-President Dr. Suresh Rudrappa, MCC Health Officer Dr. H. Ramachandra, District Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director K. Padma, District RCH Officer  Dr. L. Ravi, District Health Education Officer Prakash and others were present.
