Bengaluru: The State Government on Friday announced that the ongoing door-to-door survey to obtain empirical data of Scheduled Castes (SCs), which was scheduled to conclude on May 17, has been extended till May 25.
Accordingly, extensions have been provided for special camps and on-line self declaration. The special camps, initially scheduled from May 19 to 21 will be held from May 26 to 28.
The on-line self declaration, that was scheduled from May 19 to 23, will be held from May 19 to 28.
While more than 70 percent of the households have been covered in the comprehensive survey of Scheduled Castes/Sub-castes, 2025, the lag in Bengaluru is one of the reasons for extension of the deadline to provide enumerators more time to cover families.
According to Justice Nagmohan Das, who heads the One-man Commission to decide on internal reservation for SCs, some 19.55 lakh households of about a projected 25.72 lakh SC households in Karnataka have been covered in the survey. Around 78 lakh people out of the projected 1.17 crore population has been covered, he added.
“We have sought information on political representation from the Panchayat level to Parliament. Wherever the information is incomplete, notices have been sent,” Justice Das said adding that the Union Government had sought the survey’s methodology, for which reply has been sent.
