Sri Purandaradasa & Sri Thyagaraja Aaradhana Sangeeta Nritya Mahotsava and award presentation

Mysore/Mysuru: Kumar Performing Arts Centre (KPAC), Mysuru, has organised its 33rd & 34th ‘International Nirantara Kalemane Festival’ and 3rd ‘Sri Purandaradasa & Sri Thyagaraja Aaradhana Sangeeta Nritya Mahotsava’ on Feb. 24 and 25 respectively at Kalemane Sabhaangana in Hebbal 2nd Stage at 2.30 pm.

Feb. 24

Gosthi Gayana of Sri Purandaradasa and Sri Thyagaraja by Guru & disciples — Vid. Vishnubhatla Sri Ramachandra Murthy, Founder, Swararagasudha Sangeetha Vidyalayam, Kakinada and Kalaratna Vid. Rao R. Sharath, Director, Sharada Sangeetha Shala, Bengaluru.

Senior Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar will be the chief guest. Renowned Musicologist Vid. V. Nanjundaswamy, renowned Flautist Dr. C.A. Shreedhar, Surabhi Gana Kala Mandira Founder & Director Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar and Hindustani vocalist and art critic Dr. Manik A.V. Bengeri will be the special invitees.

On the occasion, Vid. V. Nanjundaswamy will deliver a lecture on Purandaradasa while Dr. C.A. Shreedhar will deliver a lecture on Thyagaraja.

The performances of the evening are as follows: Karnataka Kalashree Dr. K. Kumar of KPAC, Mysuru and his disciples; Vidu. Veena M. Samaga of Radhakrishna Nritya Niketana, Udupi and her disciples; Guru Surya Gayathri Devi of Thapasya Entertainments, Kerala and her disciples; Vidushi Sunitha Sukumaran of Sri Krishna Kalaalaya, Bengaluru and her disciples; Vidushi Asha Kumar of Shivaganga Nrityalaya, Bengaluru and her disciples; Vidushi Anupama Sanjay of Natyanubhava, Bengaluru and her disciples; Vidu. Arathi Arun of Ganesha Sangeetha Nrityala Charitable Trust, Mysuru and her disciples.

The ‘Kalemane Purandara Thyagaraja International Award’ will be presented to the following artistes: Vidu. Veena M. Samaga, Guru Surya Gayathri Devi, Vidu. Sunitha Sukumaran and Dr. Rekha Girish of Rekha Natya Academy, Wales, UK.

Dr. K.B. Ganapathy, Founder-Editor, Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra, Dr. Raju Varadamaistry, retired Project Director, Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), Department of Health And Family Welfare Services (HFWS), Government of Karnataka and Dr. U.G. Shenoy, senior Paediatrician and President, Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), Karnataka-2008, will be the chief guests.
