Intl. Nurses Day at District Hospital

International Nurses Day was celebrated at District Hospital in Mysuru recently. Nurses, who were felicitated on the occasion in recognition of their services, are seen with Dr. Amarnath, District Surgeon, Dr. Mahadeshwara Prasad, In-charge Resident Medical Officer (RMO), K.S. Celina, In-charge Nursing Superintendent, Dasnaik, Office Superintendent, Shivamma, former President of Karnataka State Government Nursing Officers Association (KSGNOA), Hemalatha, KSGNOA President and others.

Mysore/Mysuru: World Nurses Day was celebrated at the District Hospital on KRS Road here recently.

Speaking on the occasion, District Surgeon Dr. Amarnath said that Nurses play a vital role in taking care of patients.

Highlighting the supportive role of Nurses in medical treatment, he said that while Doctors are the brain of a Hospital, Nurses are like heart and body.

Noting that nursing is a round-the-clock service, Dr. Amarnath said that Nurses set aside their personal problems to serve the patients with a smiling face.

Observing that the health sector cannot see progress in the absence of Nurses, he said that the World Nurses Day sheds light on the significance of Nurses and Nursing Care.

A total of 35 Nurses serving in the Hospital were honoured with a memento having the picture of Florence Nightingale.

The Hospital’s In-charge Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Mahadeshwara Prasad, Office Superintendent Dasnaik, In-charge Nursing Superintendent K.S. Celina and other faculty were present.

Earlier, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Florence Nightingale, the Founder of Modern Nursing, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as International Nurses Day                                                         on May 12.
