Sir,
This is with reference to the letter seeking a separate queue for senior citizens at RTO (SOM dated July 22). The purpose of making an online application for renewal is totally defeated when RTO staff insist people to visit RTO Office even for DL renewal.
When all necessary forms and passport photo are uploaded and fees paid online, what was the reason to ask people to visit personally is not clear.
In this regard, I would like to bring to the notice of the RTO, Mysuru and SOM readers that the Telangana State Government has introduced a mobile app for this purpose and it avoids visiting the RTO Office completely for DL renewal.
In this app, after uploading all necessary documents, the person is asked to take a selfie (built-in activity of mobile application) and upon uploading the same, the photo is verified with any of the photo ID proofs like voter ID, Aadhaar etc., online with the concerned authority and the DL is sent to the doorstep of the person by speed post. Thus, it totally avoids people, whether senior citizens or not, visiting the RTO Office and standing in long queues multiple times.
It is also not clear why RTO staff ask Form-2, which is not at all mentioned in the online application process and cannot be traced by the applicant online.
In this digital age, asking citizens to visit RTO for simple things like renewal of DL is meaningless. Hope, all States adopt this app and avoid crowds at RTO for non-essential services.
