Panicked students demand to deploy security
Mysore: When the incident of mentally unsound stranger’s entry into Nursing Hostel in K.R. Hospital still green in the minds among people, in yet another incident of a stranger youth intrusion into Backward Classes and Minority Department Girls Hostel in Kuvempunagar had created panic among girls living in hostels in city.
The belated incident which occurred on Dec.17 around 2.30 midnight came to light yesterday.
According to the complaint registered in Ashokapuram Police Station and CCTV footage of the hostel, the youth entered the hostel and attempted to lift the mobile phones of the girls living in hostel rooms. The youth took to heels and jumped out of the compound wall of the hostel when the girls screamed to help after seeing him moving from one room to another room.
Upon receiving information, Zilla Panchayat member S.R. Nandish visited the hostel and pacified the panicked girls.
The inmates of the hostel demanded the government authorities to deploy adequate security for girls besides to ensure warm water.
S.R. Nandish, who is also Zilla Panchayat Social Justice Standing Committee Chairman asked the hostel to look into such complaints of girls and ensure proper security and warm water supply to the girls.
