Mysuru: Strongly condemning the Union Government’s move to privatise Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), nearly 200 members of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) staged a demonstration at Gandhi Square in the heart of the city this morning.
Addressing the protesters, INTUC National Vice-President Ashok Singh questioned the motive behind the moves to privatise PSUs such as BEML, BHEL, BEL and HAL.
Claiming that the Centre was planning to disinvest in even profit making PSUs, Singh lashed out at the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for weakening the PSUs.
He warned the Union Government of severe protests if PM Modi went ahead with privatisation of PSUs.
INTUC Mysuru District Youth Wing President P.N. Chetan said that privatisation of defence PSUs such as HAL and BEL will severely jeopardise the security of the Nation.
Cautioning that the privatisation of defence PSUs may lead to leakage of vital security and defence information, he urged PM Modi not to privatise PSUs in the better interest of the Nation.
INTUC State President Rajesh Malli, office-bearers Lakshmi Venkatesh and Puttaswamy, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, Zilla Panchayat Member Dr. Pushpa Amarnath and others took part.
