Mysuru: The city-based Namdhari Gowda Yuva Rakshana Pade has appealed to the Government to invite Mysuru district’s para-athlete K.S. Shilpa, who won a bronze medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, to inaugurate this year’s Dasara festivities.
Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday, Association Convenor A.S. Yogesh said, Shilpa had lost a leg in a road accident but overcame the setback to bring laurels to the country by winning a bronze medal at the prestigious Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
“Inviting her to inaugurate Dasara would boost the morale of persons with disabilities and also uphold the rich traditions of Mysuru Dasara,” he said. Yogesh said, the Association would submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
Yuva Rakshana Pade office-bearers Sandesh, Thyagaraju, Sudhakar, Kuber and Prashanth were present at the press meet.
