IPR Cell inaugurated at GSSSIETW

Mysuru: GSSSIETW inaugurated ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell’ on May 16. Dr. M.N. Bheemesh, Hon. Director, National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies & Senior Advisor, ALMT Legal, Advocates and Solicitors, Bengaluru, was the chief guest.

S. Gowthami, Founder & Secretary, Allinnov Research & Development Private Limited, Mysuru, was the guest of honour for the inaugural.

On the occasion, Dr. Bheemesh spoke about importance of IPR in the context of socio-economic and technological growth. He also highlighted about the importance of trademarks, copyrights and filing of patents.

S. Gowthami spoke about ‘IPR and filling of Patents – Its importance and procedures involved.’ She also shared her personal experiences in filing eight of her Patents as an individual. Also, she explained in detail about the procedures involved in filing of Patents.                   

She highlighted the importance of filing of Patents at an earlier stage and also explained the disadvantages of filing Patents at a later stage.

Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW, gave an overview of the IPR Cell, its objectives and utilisation aspects in filing Patents that arise out of Incubation Centres, recognised Research Centres of GSSIETW, PG students and innovative ideas that are implemented by UG students. The key objective of the IPR Cell is to transform creative ideas to innovative products.

Vanaja B. Pandit, Hon. Secretary, GSSS, presided. Dr. S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Professor & Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, was also present.
