Irwin Road widening: Thirty-four buildings demolished

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which has taken up the widening works of Irwin Road, has so far demolished 34 buildings partially.

The road widening works is taken up from Nehru Cirle to Government Ayurveda College Circle and the MCC out of  about 85 properties has purchased 50 buildings from the owners and had got them registered. Out of 50 properties, the MCC has partially demolished 34 buildings till now, said MCC Developmental Officer Nagaraju to Star of Mysore.

He further said that the process of purchasing the properties after paying money to owners and getting it registered is going on daily and then the buildings are being demolished. The road from Nehru Circle to Ayurveda College Circle is barricaded and movement of traffic on this stretch of road is restricted.

Nagaraju said that as there is an order from the Court to maintain status quo of three buildings, the process of purchasing other properties is being continued by Zonal Commissioner Geetha Udeda.

He further said that attempts would be made to vacate the Court stay and after registering the remaining properties, buildings would be demolished within a month and then civil works would be taken up.
