Is Mysore Airport levying entry fee?

Sir,

I wish to bring to the notice of the authorities an issue regarding the charges being collected at the Mysore Airport.

On several occasions, senior officers from our institution travel by air, either arriving at or departing from Mysore Airport.

As a matter of courtesy and convenience, our institution arranges a vehicle to drop them at the airport or pick them up upon their arrival. In such cases, the vehicle merely enters the airport premises for the purpose of drop-off or pick-up and does not park or remain stationed in the airport parking area.

However, it has been observed that, upon entering the airport, a token is issued to the vehicle and when the vehicle exits after dropping off or picking up the passenger, a fee ofRs. 60 is collected. The token is also taken back, without a receipt or voucher being provided for the amount collected.

Understandably, parking charges are levied on vehicles that actually use the designated parking facility.

However, charging vehicles that merely enter the airport for a very short drop-off or pick-up, without being parked or occupying a parking space, appears to require clarification.

I therefore request the authorities of Mysore Airport to clarify whether the Rs. 60 charge is a parking fee, an entry fee or a fee applicable to vehicles entering the airport premises for drop-off and pick-up.

If it is a parking fee, the basis for charging vehicles that do not park may kindly be explained. Further, a proper receipt or voucher should be issued for any fee collected.

A clear clarification from the airport authorities would help remove any ambiguity and ensure transparency in the collection of such charges.
