Isha Gramotsavam State Divisional Matches in city on Aug. 16

Mysuru: Isha Gramotsavam-2026, Karnataka Divisional Matches, has been organised at Mahajana grounds in Jayalakshmipuram here on Aug. 16 at 9.30 am.

Addressing media persons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in the city this morning, Isha Foundation volunteer Swami Tavisa said the event has been organised under the auspices of Isha Outreach.

The Divisional matches will bring together over 300 athletes from rural areas, representing 20 men’s volleyball teams and 12 women’s throwball teams from over the region. The Divisional matches held in the State are considered as a qualifying round for teams to represent State at the National level.

International cricket referee and former cricketer Javagal Srinath, Khelo India Executive Director Amar Jyothi, Consultant Mohit Waswani, National award winning folk artiste Amma Ramachandra, Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda, para badminton international medallist Anand Kumar Boregowda, JK Tyres Vice-President Vuppu Eshwararao, Vice-President BVSSS Prasad, Karnataka’s first Chess Grandmaster M.S Thejkumar and Tibetan monks will attend the event, said Swamy Tavisa.

The 18th edition of Isha Gramotsavam marks the biggest expansion in its history, covering 10 States and the Union Territory of Puducherry and over 40,000 villages involving more than 80,000 players from 7,000 teams, including 15,000 women players. For the first time, this festival is extending from South India’s rural belts to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Maharashtra, along with Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Keralam, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he said. Isha Foundation volunteers Sujatha Shetty and Chittaranjan were present at the press meet.

Isha Outreach is the social outreach arm of Isha Foundation, implementing large-scale human well-being projects in rural revitalisation, education, environmental sustainability and community health.
