Issue ration cards to eligible persons: MLA Somashekar

Mysuru: Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekar has urged the authorities to issue ration cards to eligible persons.

Speaking at a progress review meeting on the distribution of ration cards at the DC’s office here recently, Somashekar said the K.R. Assembly segment has received more 3,000 applications seeking new ration cards.

Pointing out ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme was one of the most ambitious schemes of the Government, the MLA said that the authorities should pay special attention to the distribution of ration cards.

Explaining the importance of ration cards, the MLA said the beneficiaries, apart from rations are entitled to facilities under Vajpayee and Rajiv Gandhi Health schemes and such other initiatives of the Government. He also asked the Food Department authorities to visit fair price shops and check their functioning.

Somashekar further instructed the officials to sensitise the BPL card applicants to get Aadhaar card, if they are not in possession of it till now.

Food and Civil Supplies Department Deputy Director Dr. Rameshwarappa and other officials were present.
