The submerged Triveni Sangama at Bhagamandala in Kodagu

It started raining on July 17 and the rainfall has intensified since last night. The temple towns of Bhagamandala and Talacauvery has been cut off from the other parts as the Triveni Sangama (confluence of rivers Cauvery, Kannike and Sujyothi) in Bhagamandala – the downstream of Talacauvery where river Cauvery originates – has been completely submerged. The bathing ghat at the Sangam too has been submerged.

Severe landslides have been reported on the Madikeri-Bhagamandala Road near Ayyangeri, parts of Murnad, Bethri, Balamberi and Appangala, with reports of roads being blocked by the flowing rainwater. Following heavy rain, the district administration has declared a day’s holiday for schools and colleges today.
