Jaitley undergoes kidney transplant at AIIMs

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is currently undergoing kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, hospital sources said today.

A detailed medical bulletin about the Minister’s health would be made available in the evening, sources said.

Earlier on April 5, Jaitley had tweeted about being treated for kidney related problems.

“I am being treated for kidney related problems & certain infections that I have contracted. I am therefore currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me.”

Due to the ailment, the Finance Minister was working from controlled environment at home and has been undergoing dialysis for the last one month.

Jaitley took oath as the Rajya Sabha Member representing Uttar Pradesh on April 15. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had also undergone kidney transplant in December 2016 at AIIMS.
