Jayadeva Hospital Director calls for helping community

Mysuru: “Uppara community officials and professionals who are in top position after getting good education should come to the help of the community by not forgetting the hard way they came up in life,” said Bengaluru Jayadeva Hospital Director Dr. K.S. Ravindranath.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Pratibha Puraskar programme organised by Mysuru District Uppara Employees and Professionals Association at Kalamandira here yesterday.

Maintaining that education plays a key role in the development of any community, Dr. Ravindranath said that he belonged to a farmer family and faced many difficulties in getting higher education.

Pointing out that the Uppara community could get education only after independence because of the Constitution, he said that those who always look for acquisition of knowledge, will have financial stability.

“Those in top positions and those who have become rich through business and trade should be generous in donating for the cause of the community. One must remember that one leaves all the materialistic gains and wealth that they have earned during their lifetime, in this land itself after death. As such, everyone should make up their mind for sharing wealth with                              others,” he argued.

Dr. Ravindranath was honoured with ‘Bhageeratha Vaidya Vibhushana Pratibha Ratna’ award, while Dodda Gavibasappa, a Neelagara artiste of Doddamole village in Chamarajanagar taluk, was honoured with ‘Bhageeratha Kala Vibhushana’ award on the occasion.

Meritorious students of the community, who scored high marks in SSLC (2023-24), were presented Pratibha Puraskar and conferred with ‘Bhageeratha Vidyashri’ award. Also, students of the community who got admission to Medical courses and Post-Graduate degree holders were conferred with ‘Bhageeratha Pratibha Ratna’ award.

Physically challenged sportspersons of Kollegal taluk — Pratap, Jagan and Janardhan — who were selected for the National Sports Meet for the physically challenged, were conferred with ‘Bhageeratha Kreeda Ratna’ award and presented a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each. This apart, 13 achievers of the community who excelled in different fields were felicitated.

Bhageeratha Mutt Seer Sri Purushottamanandapuri Swamiji and Ayyanasaragur Mutt Seer Sri Mahadeva Swamiji graced the occasion.
