Bengaluru: With just two-days left for the deadline (Oct.16) for filing of nominations, the JD(S) announced its official nominees for Mandya and Shivamogga Lok Sabha by-polls today.
The by-poll to Mandya, Shivamogga and Ballari Lok Sabha seats along with Ramanagar and Jamkhandi Assembly constituencies is scheduled to take place on Nov. 3 and the counting of votes will be taken upon Nov. 6.
JD(S) Supremo and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda is said to have finalised the names of former Legislator L.R. Shivaramegowda for Mandya seat and another former MLA Madhu Bangarappa, son of late former CM S. Bangarappa, for Shivamogga seat.
The JD(S) had earlier left the Shivamogga LS seat to the Congress as part of a seat sharing arrangement between the coalition partners. But as the Congress had problems in picking a strong candidate to take on the BJP, the grand old national party parted with the seat to the JD(S), after much discussion.
Former PM H.D. Deve Gowda, after holding talks with CM H.D. Kumaraswamy and other top JD(S) leaders at his Pasmanabhanagar residence this morning, finalised the candidatures of L.R. Shivaramegowda and Madhu Bangarappa, it is learnt.
