Assailants threaten villagers with knife before fleeing
Bharathinagar: Miscreants have allegedly murdered a JD(S) leader by slitting his throat with a knife in broad daylight at Lakshmi Gowdanadoddi village near Bharathinagar yesterday morning.
The deceased JD(S) leader is L. Krishna (47), son of late Lakshmigowda of the village.
Krishna, who was rearing cows, buffalos and other livestock animals for a living, used to deliver milk to the dairy every morning, return home and tie cows and calves near his home.
On Tuesday morning too, Krishna was tying a buffalo near his house when three assailants, who came on a bike, pounced on him and slit his throat. Neighbours, who heard Krishna screaming rushed to his help only to be threatened with a knife by the assailants, who fled on the bike.
Police have suspected financial feud behind the murder. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjun Baladandi and other Police Officers visited the spot.
The body was shifted to Mandya District Hospital where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members. K.M. Doddi Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
