JD(S) Supremo keeps opposition foxed about his seat

Bengaluru: Even as JD(S) and Congress have sealed seat-sharing pact for the Lok Sabha polls, confusion continues over which seat JD(S) Supremo and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda will finally contest from — Hassan or Tumakuru?

Even after the former PM announced that his grandson Prajwal Revanna would be fielded from Hassan, his son PWD Minister H.D. Revanna said on Monday that Gowda can contest and win from anywhere, as he is popular among the people.

Revanna’s latest statement gives rise to speculation that Gowda may finally stick to Hassan, his home turf. Prajwal followed it up saying he would welcome his grandfather’s decision.

Gowda has named Prajwal as his successor in Hassan about a week ago. The former PM had himself considered contesting from Bengaluru North or Tumkuru. But after the BJP reportedly finalised the Hassan ticket for A. Manju, who joined the party a couple of days ago, Revanna said that he was still urging Gowda to contest from Hassan and that Prajwal was also ready to support his grandfather.
