Bengaluru: The JD(S) on Wednesday joined the list of non-BJP parties across the country which are supporting BJP-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) nominee Droupadi Murmu, by declaring the party’s support to her. Announcing this to presspersons here yesterday, senior JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said that though the BJP has enough members to get its candidate Droupadi elected as the next President of India, the BJP has been graceful in seeking the support of the JD(S). Also Prime Minister Modi had called JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda twice seeking his party’s support, though the BJP has more than enough numbers and had also sought time to meet him personally at Bengaluru, which shows the PM’s regard. But the PM need not do so and the JD(S) would support Droupadi Murmu as the party knows her struggles and stature, Kumaraswamy said adding that the Congress need not again brand the JD(S) as the BJP’s B-team for supporting the candidature of NDA candidate in the Presidential polls to be held on July 18.
