‘Join hands to make India Tuberculosis-free by 2025’

Mysore/Mysuru: District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Mohammed Shiraz Ahmed has called upon people to join hands with the Health Department to make India free from Tuberculosis (TB) by 2025 and realise dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He was speaking at a function organised under the aegis of District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Office and Nehru Yuva Kendra in connection with World Health Day and World Tuberculosis Day, as part ‘Bharat-75’ celebrations at Government PU College and Karnataka Public School here last Wednesday.

Dr. Ahmed said that one person dies of TB every three minutes globally and a good number of people were suffering from this disease. Need of the hour was to check the spread of this disease and make India free from TB. Pointing out that TB was contagious; he said that early detection and proper medication could help the patient recover from the disease quickly. People having heavy cough, fever and lack of appetite must visit the Hospital at the earliest and take free treatment, he added.

Department of Information and Public Relations Assistant Director R. Raju said that weather and the environment was turning worse due to pollution and people must be very careful. The students must consume nutritious food, breathe clean air and drink potable water to be healthy, he added.

District Youth Services Officer at Nehru Yuva Kendra S. Siddaramappa called upon parents to impart moral education to their children as it would help in building a healthy and disciplined society. Information and Public Relations Department Assistant Director R. Raju, Chief Medical Officer of Asha Kirana Hospital Dr. Swamy, Micro-Biologist K.N. Jyothi, Lab Technician Mahesh and H. Nagaraj of Kadakola Primary Health Centre were felicitated on the occasion.

Principal of Government PU College N.M. Vijayendrakumar presided. District Family Planning Officer Dr. P. Ravi, Taluk Health Education Officer Mahadev and others were present.
