JSS Science & Technology University to host SCI-TECH-FEST-2.0 from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: JSS Science & Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, is organising a four-day National-Level SCI-TECH FEST-2.0 on the occasion of the National Science Day (NSD) in association with Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA), CHEM HUB and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) on the theme entitled “Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future” from Feb. 25 to 28.

More than 300 undergraduate students from both engineering and science backgrounds will participate. Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. SCI-TECH FEST will be inaugurated by Padma Sri Awardee Dr. S. Ayyappan, Chancellor, Central Agriculture University, Imphal and Chairman, KSTA, DST, GoK tomorrow at 11 am. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha (JSS MVP), will preside.

Prof. M.H. Dhananjaya, Advisor, TED, JSS MVP; Dr. B. Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, JSS AHER & Director, TED, JSS MVP; Prof. Dr. S. A. Dhanaraj, Registrar, JSS STU and Dr. B E Rangaswamy, Registrar (Evaluation), VTU, Belagavi, will be the guests of honour.

Dr. P. Mallu, Dean (Science), JSS STU, is the Convenor of the programme. The inauguration will be followed by a few distinguished presentations on the theme of NSD by resource experts. Also there will be a number of student-centric science and technology-based outreach competitions — Quiz, Debate, Essay Writing, PPT Presentation, Biowaste Poster Making, Mr. & Miss, CHEM HUB and Treasure Hunt. On the occasion, Scholarship will be distributed to 27 students from JSS Science and Technology University.

On Feb. 26 (Saturday), technical presentations will be continued on the theme along with various competitions. Infosys prize winner Dr. Navakanta Bhat, Dean, Division of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and a distinguished nominee from GoI Dr. M.V. Roopa, Deputy General Manager, ISTRAC, ISRO, Bengaluru, will be the resource experts. Cultural events have been planned in the evening.

On Feb.27 (Sunday), a Marathon with a slogan on the theme Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future is scheduled at 6.30 am at JSS STU Campus. The programme will conclude on Feb. 28 (Monday) with a technical presentation by  Dr. Prashanth M. Vishwanth, Director, Research (IC), JSS AHER, Mysuru along with an evaluation of various competitions.

The prizes for winners of various competitive events will be distributed in the valedictory function scheduled at 4 pm, which will be attended by S.P. Manjunath, Secretary-I, JSS MVP,  Dr. H.R. Mahadevaswamy, Joint Director, TED, JSS MVP;  Dr. S.B. Kivade, Principal & Dean (Eng.& Technology), SJCE, JSS STU; Dr. B. Manojkumar,  Dean (Academic), JSS STU and Dr. H. Honne Gowda, Dean (Research), JSS STU. 

The entire programme will be coordinated by Dr. P. Mallu, Dean (Science) JSS STU and his colleagues from the Department of Chemistry, JSS STU.
