JSS STU collaborates with ChanRe Centre

An initiative towards enhancing collaborative research, interdisciplinary projects and innovations

Mysore/Mysuru: JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ChanRe Rheumatology and Immunology Centre and Research (CRICR), Bengaluru.

The collaboration is an initiative towards enhancing collaborative research, interdisciplinary projects and innovations.

The MoU was signed on June 8 by Dr. S.A. Dhanaraj, Registrar of JSS STU and Dr. S. Chandrashekara, Rheumatologist, Founder and Research & Development (R&D) Director  of CRICR.

The MoU will enable to foster research collaboration between JSS STU and ChanRe, set the ground for longer-term university-industry partnerships in the possible avenues, strengthen the innovative capacities to advance industry-driven research & innovation and provide university access to industrial environments for applied and problem- based research activities.

Dr. Chandrashekara is a well-known Rheumatologist and Immunologist who is currently the President of Indian Rheumatology. CRICR is a unique one of its kind hospital in India, dedicated for management of patients suffering from Rheumatic Diseases (Musculoskeletal) and other Immunological diseases.

During the MoU signing, Dr. Chandrashekara spoke about the Role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in improving personalised medicine.

Dr. P. Renuka, Additional R&D Director, narrated the importance of diagnostic tools  in medicine.

Dr. M.S. Mallikarjunaswamy, Department of Electronics and Instrumentation, JSS STU, coordinated and informed that researchers of JSS STU and CRICR are currently working towards the development of software-based Assistive tools for diagnosis and disease progression monitoring in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lower back pain and foot/ leg ulcers.

Dr. S.A. Dhanaraj, Registrar, JSS STU, opined that technology upgradation is essential in both Engineering and Medicine and the collaborative research should be a continuous process. 

Dr. A.N. Santhosh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor (in-charge), JSS STU, appreciated the efforts of researchers in establishing collaborations and advised to take it further to achieve effective results through innovation.

Dr. B. Manoj Kumar, Dean (Academics), JSS STU, Dr. C. Nataraj, Principal (in-charge), SJCE and Dr. K. Umarani, HoD, Dr. K. Shailaja, Professor, Department of Electronics and Instrumentation, Dr. B.S. Harish, Deputy Registrar, Dr. M.S. Maheshan, Assistant Registrar and Dr. Vanishri Arun, Coordinator, Academic/ International Engagements, JSS STU, were present during the MoU signing.
