JSS Varsity projects selected for National-level ‘Anveshan’

Two student projects from JSS University have been selected for ‘Anveshan,’ student research convention for aspiring researchers.

With a view to inculcate research culture in higher educational institutions and to identify young and rising talents, the Research Division of Association of Indian Universities organises ‘Anveshan.’

Projects presented at this convention have the scope for commercialising the technologies with industrial collaboration. Selection of projects for ‘Anveshan’ is made at three levels. The first is at University-level, second at Zonal-level and at the National-level.

At the National-level, a total of 75 selected projects (15 projects from each zone — East, West, South, North and Central — will be scrutinised and 15 projects will be selected as winners.  

The projects can be from agriculture, basic sciences, engineering and technology, health sciences and allied subjects, pharmacy, nutrition, social sciences, humanities, commerce and law.  

The South Zone Student Research Convention was recently held at Tumakuru University and over 100 projects were presented by students from 23 participating Universities.

Among the five student projects submitted by JSS University, two projects have been selected for National-level, which will be held at Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu between Mar. 27 and 29.

The two projects that were selected from JSS are: “Development and validation of tissue array for the identification of biomarkers — a collaborative project between Departments of Pharmacology and Biochemistry, presented by Venugopal Reddy in Health Science category and “Invitro effect of ethanolic extract of momordica charantia on PPAR gamma gene expression in pre-adipocyte cell lines” presented by Shivambika in Basic Science category. Dr. Subba Rao V. Madhunapantula, Professor of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CEMR) laboratory, Department of Biochemistry and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Thimmulappa, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, JSS Medical College, JSS University coordinated the event.
