Mysuru: A 38-year-old employee of the District Health and Family Welfare Department has allegedly committed suicide by hanging self at a room in a private hotel on KRS Road here yesterday evening.

The deceased is Shivakumar, son of Jayaram, a native of Hijjalaguppe village in Nagamangala taluk and was residing at Manasinagar in city. He was working as a Junior Health Inspector at the Health Department, located at Nazarbad in city.

It is said that Shivakumar took a room on rent at a private hotel where he hanged himself and the incident came to light yesterday evening. He leaves behind his wife and one son. The reason for Shivakumar to take the extreme step is yet to be known.

Metagalli Police, who reached the hotel, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem, which was conducted this noon and the body was handed over to the family members today afternoon.

Metagalli Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
