Justice Cyriac Joseph inaugurates De Paul Law College in Mandya

Mandya: De Paul Institutions marked a significant milestone in its academic journey with the formal inauguration of De Paul Law College in Belagola, Srirangapatna here on Sept. 28 at its Conference Hall, marking the institution’s foray into the field of legal education.

Justice Cyriac Joseph, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the Law College by unveiling De Paul Law College plaque in the presence of dignitaries, faculty, students and members of De Paul community.

He also inaugurated the Moot Court, an important academic facility intended to provide students with practical exposure to courtroom proceedings, advocacy and the application of legal principles.

Addressing the gathering, he spoke on the significance of legal education and the responsibilities entrusted to those who enter the legal profession, emphasising the enduring importance of truth, justice, integrity and social responsibility in the formation of future legal professionals.

Rev. Fr. Varghese Payyapilly CM, President of De Paul Institutions and Provincial Superior of the Southern Indian Province, Congregation of the Mission, presided.

In his address, he highlighted the significance of extending the educational mission of De Paul Institutions into legal education and expressed the vision of developing the Law College as a centre that combines academic excellence, professional competence and values.

Rev. Dr. Baiju Antony CM, Director of De Paul Law College, spoke about the vision behind the establishment of the Law College and its significance in the continued growth of De Paul.

Rev. Fr. Anish Xavier CM, Principal of DPIRS, Rev. Fr. Paul Parackal CM, Financial Administrator and other Fathers of the Vincentian Congregation of Mission and Sisters of Vincentian family, were also present at the ceremony.

S. Nagendra, Principal of De Paul Law College, introduced the chief guest. Dr. K.G. Licy, Associate Professor, Vice-Principal (Academics), De Paul College, welcomed. Alphonza, Assistant Professor, De Paul Law College, proposed the vote of thanks.

De Paul Law College, offering the five-year BBA LL.B. programme, seeks to provide rigorous and value-oriented legal education, combining academic learning with practical exposure while nurturing competent, ethical and socially responsible legal professionals committed to truth, justice and the rule of law.
