Bengaluru: Justice Usha Rani, who was serving as the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Mysuru, was sworn-in as the Additional Judge of Karnataka High Court by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, here on Friday last.
A native of Belthangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, Justice Usha Rani is an alumna of SDB College in Ujire. She is the daughter of late Nemi Raj Shetty, a senior advocate.
Justice Usha Rani enrolled as an advocate in 1991. She was first appointed as a Munsiff in 1998 and was promoted as a Senior Civil Judge in 2008 and as District Judge in 2014. She has also served as Registrar, Karnataka Lokayukta and as Principal District and Sessions Judge in Hassan and Mysuru.
Along with Justice Usha Rani, Justice K.S. Bharath Kumar and Justice Nerale Veerabhadraiah Bhavani also took oath as additional judges of the Karnataka High Court.
Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Legislative Council Chairman Saleem Ahmed and Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
